The Tourist Trophy at the BILSTER BERG

Among the motorcycling customers and employees of Richter+Frenzel, this event has long enjoyed cult status: the annual Tourist Trophy is the top event in the calendar of events of the Würzburg-based wholesale company. More than 200 participants. Almost 170 active drivers. They all accepted the invitation to the 14th edition of the sporting customer event, which this year was held for the third time in a row on the race track at the BILSTER BERG.

“Originally, the idea for the Tourist Trophy sponsored by Richter+Frenzel came from the initiative of several PS-savvy employees of the company’s management – so the event was initially launched on a much smaller scale,” remembers Robert Oberberger, Managing Director of the Southern Region and organisational patron of the Trophy. “It was only over the years that the Tourist Trophy finally developed into the popular supra-regional customer and employee event it presents itself as today. In the meantime, it has become fully established as a traditional annual highlight – among Richter+Frenzel’s motorcycling customers and suppliers as well as among the employees who take part.” This year’s 14th staging of the event also impressively confirms that the Tourist Trophy has become an integral part of today’s corporate culture.

To ensure that the numerous participants from a total of 14 industry partners and sponsors could count on professional support at all times, they were met by no less than 20 instructors in the paddock at the BILSTER BERG. Among the experienced coaches was a real motorsport legend: the well-known former professional racing driver Jürgen Fuchs offered his expertise in intensive training sessions for advanced drivers. Participation was only intended for sporty drivers with sufficient racetrack experience. Those who had the necessary driving experience and had reserved their place in one of the quickly booked intensive courses could enjoy exclusive coaching by the former German Champion and World Championship fourth in the 250 cc class. All participants, however, could already look forward to a very special surprise on the evening before the actual event: Jürgen Fuchs presented a video-based track presentation in the seminar rooms at the BILSTER BERG. Irrespective of their level of experience, the attending racetrack apprentices were given the opportunity to prepare professionally for the challenges ahead of them.

Even away from the race track, there was no chance of dullness: In addition to the well-attended biker party including barbecue and DJ, the supporting programme of the Tourist Trophy 2018 was also impressive with another attraction – a special treat for friends of a slightly slower pace. On one of the motorbike tours through the summery Teutoburg Forest, which were also guided by instructors, the participants could take a break from the turbulent race track. The low-traffic country roads around the BILSTER BERG offered ideal conditions for this.

What remained in the memory of the Tourist Trophy 2018: The memory of two unforgettable days with lots of riding fun, fast-paced action and good conversations among like-minded motorbike enthusiasts. The organiser’s conclusion was correspondingly positive: “The cooperation with the BILSTER BERG team was excellent. Both before the event and during it, everything was done extremely reliably and quickly,” reported Andrea Röckenschuß, who as secretary to the management at Richter+Frenzel was also significantly involved in the organisation of the event. One day after the end of the event, the first person already wanted to register for the Tourist Trophy 2019. You couldn’t wish for any greater level of approval than that.
