More than just a machine

It’s obvious: the motorbike is a motor vehicle. However, it is a vehicle with a very strong and unique power of attraction. The motorbikes of the Motorrad Action Team Trackday gave exactly this impression.

Just think of all the biker movies. From “Easy Rider” from 1969 and the cult film “On any Sunday” with Steve McQueen from 1971 to “Born to be wild” with John Travolta, the “Biker Boyz” and “Ghost Ride” with Nicolas Cage to the motorbike travel documentary series “Long Way Down” with Ewan McGregor – Motorbikes have always played a leading role in films. They embody freedom and strength, coolness and speed. The heroic stories of bikers and their faithful motorized companions give the feeling of being able to transcend boundaries and simply go where you have always wanted to go. Thus, the motorbike is more than just a machine, it is a friend.

But in normal road traffic, the wild vehicle threatens to become a sensible, boring companion and a simple form of transport. No adventure awaits the motorist behind the next curve, at most a traffic jam. “Movement is an adventure, leaving the familiar behind, speed, getting lost, asking people for directions, driving boisterously, parking in the wild,” says Matthias Schröter enthusiastically, “the feeling of freedom, the unpredictable. That’s why we’ve been offering trackdays, training and trips for motorcyclists for over 30 years.” The Motorrad Action Team is also the organiser of the international German motorbike championship and publisher of the oldest and world’s leading motorbike magazine. The company recently offered beginner and advanced training courses at the BILSTER BERG with instructors, educational workshops and of course elements of free driving. “We have up to 35 instructors that we can activate for such an event,” says Schröter. The Motorrad Action Team likes to ride on unusual tracks and in unfamiliar terrain. “The track on the Bilster Berg is very peculiar and not easy to master,” says Schröter. “It suits us and our training programme very well. The BILSTER BERG is a unique test and experience resort that has a feel-good atmosphere in addition to a challenging, well-built track. It’s rare to find a circuit that is so well-kept and chic.” Furthermore, the catering is also exceptional, he says: “Here we can also stay for dinner with our customers, enjoy barbecues in beautiful scenery and end the day in a proper way.”
